Baked Apples

Baked apples with cinnamon sticks

Baked apples are the perfect easy dessert for your condo. It will fill the entire space with the delicious smell of apples, cinnamon, and caramelized brown sugar and comes together with very little prep time and only 30–45 minutes in the oven. We recommend using Idared apples, as they are perfect for baking. Enjoy this healthy treat on its own, serve it with oatmeal for a truly indulgent breakfast, or pair it with vanilla ice cream for a delightful dessert!

INGREDIENTS
  • 4 large Idared apples, or other baking apples
  • 3/4 cup boiling water
  • 1/4 cup chopped raisins
  • 2 tbsp butter, separated into four parts
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar 
  • 1  tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp allspice
DIRECTIONS
  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Using an apple corer, core out a hole in each apple from the top. Leave at least 2 centimetres of apple at the bottom intact so that the apple filling does not spill out the bottom.
  3. In a bowl, mix together the raisins, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. Stuff each apple with 1/4 of this mixture and top each with an equal portion of the butter.
  4. Place each apple into a baking dish and pour 3/4 cups of boiling water into the dish’s bottom. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 30-45 minutes until apples are cooked but not mushy. 
  5. Remove and allow to cool before serving alone, with oatmeal, or ice cream. Enjoy!
